Biography:
Neelix is a character from the science fiction television series Star Trek: Voyager. He is a Talaxian native to the Delta Quadrant, a region of space largely unexplored by the United Federation of Planets.
Neelix joins the Voyager crew after they are stranded in the Delta Quadrant. He serves as their self-appointed "Chief Morale Officer", cook, and local guide. His extensive knowledge of the Delta Quadrant's cultures, species, and resources proves invaluable to the crew's long and arduous journey home.
Prior to joining Voyager, Neelix eked out a living as a salvager and trader, having lost his family and community in a devastating war with the Haakonians. This traumatic past informs his often cheerful and optimistic demeanor, as he seeks to create a sense of family and belonging on the starship.
Throughout the series, Neelix forms close bonds with the Voyager crew, particularly Kes, a young Ocampan woman with whom he has a romantic relationship, and later, Naomi Wildman, a half-Ktarian, half-Human child for whom he becomes a surrogate father figure.
